Typically, the substation is divided into three main compartments: the High Voltage Compartment (equipped with high/medium voltage switchgear such as ring main units and gas insulated switchgear, with a maximum rated voltage of up to 40.5kV), the Low Voltage Compartment, and the Transformer Compartment (fitted with three-phase oil-immersed or cast resin dry-type transformers).
